This was in breach of the following Standard of Professional Behaviour;\r\n\r\nHonesty and Integrity\r\nDiscreditable Conduct\r\n\r\nOn 22nd March 2019 DC Pointon used police computer systems to obtain the home address of a member of the public. DC Pointon went to visit their home address on the same date, a short time after having obtained their address. There was no proper policing purpose for the accessing of the address from the police computer system and he did so to pursue an inappropriate relationship with them. This is in breach of the following Standards of Professional Behaviour;\r\n\r\nHonesty and Integrity\r\nConfidentiality\r\nDuties and Responsibilities\r\nDiscreditable Conduct\r\n\r\nDC Pointon made a dishonest entry in his pocket notebook concerning the use of police computer systems to obtain the home address of the member of the public. DC Pointon made an entry in his pocket notebook for Friday 15th March 2019 where he recorded the road traffic collision. DC Pointon entered the text in his pocket notebook sometime after he had accessed police computer systems on 22nd March 2019 so as to create the impression that he had accessed police computer systems on 15th March 2019 for a proper policing purpose relating to the road traffic collision. This is in breach of the following Standard of Professional Behaviour;\r\n\r\nHonesty and Integrity\r\nDiscreditable Conduct\r\n\r\nOn the 16th October 2019 DC Pointon signed a witness statement in which he falsely stated that contact with the member of the public was made outside his working hours. This is in breach of the Standards of Professional Behaviour;\r\n\r\nHonesty and Integrity\r\n\r\nDC Pointon deleted most of the contents of his electronic devices, namely his personal mobile phone, work issue mobile phone and work issue tablet prior to their seizure in connection with the investigation. DC Pointon carried out the deletion to prevent evidence of his inappropriate relationship with the member of the public being seen by Investigators. This is in breach of the following Standard of Professional Behaviour;\r\n\r\nHonesty and Integrity\r\nDiscreditable Conduct\r\n\r\nOn 22nd March 2019 DC Pointon took an unauthorised absence whilst on duty in order to attend the home address of the member of the public. There was no proper policing purpose for this visit and DC Pointon did so to pursue an inappropriate relationship with them. This was in breach of the following Standard of Professional Behaviour;\r\n\r\nHonesty and Integrity\r\nDuties and Responsibilities\r\n\r\nOn 22nd March 2019 DC Pointon made improper and unauthorised use of a police vehicle in order to visit the member of public at their home address. There was no proper policing purpose for DC Pointon to attend the home address and he did so to pursue an inappropriate relationship with them. This is in breach of the following Standard of Professional Behaviour;\r\n\r\nHonesty and Integrity\r\nDuties and Responsibilities\r\nGross Misconduct was proven on allegations 1,2,3,5,6 and 7 and the officer has been dismissed without notice. He pleaded guilty to the offences when his case was heard at Birmingham Crown Court on Tuesday.\r\n\r\nTatton, whose address was not disclosed during the hearing, has yet to be sentenced and remains suspended pending the outcome of an internal force hearing.\r\n\r\nIt has emerged that Tatton - who was nicknamed Tatts - was one of the stars of the Cops UK: Bodycam Squad fly-on-the-wall documentary which revealed what policing is really like on the streets of Stoke-on-Trent.\r\n\r\nBut StokeonTrentLive readers are stunned that Tatton was not immediately sacked as soon as he admitted the offences and that taxpayers are still paying his wages.\r\n\r\nKeith Dixon asked: “Why is he suspended and not sacked?”\r\n\r\nJanet Salt said: “Suspended with pay - sack him.”\r\n\r\nKerry Barlow said: “He needs locking up. Suspended with pay, that just makes it worse. Sack him and lock him up so he can get what he deserves. He’s supposed to keep people safe, what a joke.”\r\n\r\nSheila White said: “Suspended, he should be sacked!”\r\nStaffordshire Police have defended their response.
